Although many people wish to have pet in their houses, it is quite common that many of them send their pets inside the crate as a punishment. This method is completely wrong usage of the kennels and the crates. The pets are generally burrow animals and hence their kennel or port should be the place of their safety and should be the place they wish to go when the things get too funny everywhere.
The porter should be the sanctuary for the pets. If the owner of the pet is angry with it and put it in the porter as a punishment for its doing some bad things like biting the sofa or any thing, then the pet will link the porter with panic and annoyance and thus will also be afraid of the same. Thus it will become very difficult to put the pet once again into the porter when required as it will resist entering inside the porter.
It should be ensured that the porter of the pets should have some foam for at least 1 or 2 inches at the bottom which will keep the pets comfortable. Lot of blankets or the towels should also be available to keep the pets burrowed.
The pets should be put inside the porter in a positive way. The pet should be appreciated and be gifted at the beginning stage of its every time entry to the porter. The time may be taken for practicing. The response from the pets will be positive for the appreciation and the prize given by the owners. Like the babies, the pets may also cry in the beginning to enter into the porter but will get used in short span of time. Over a period of time, the pets will come to know that they can have their food only at the porter and hence will go in to the same without the compulsion of the owner.
