Designer Dogs

The trend of possessing designer bags, designer shoes and so on have caught up with dogs too and evolution of designer dog has suddenly cropped up. To put it in a simple way, designer dogs are mixed breeds that are crossed to produce a specific physical appearance.

Evidently, it is done to get the good qualities of both the breeds and it invariably happens to be the poodles with some other breed because poodles are known to be excellent non shedding dogs are very intelligent too. There are different sizes of poodles and this has added more justification of cross breeding.

The intention of producing designer dogs is to get the most of desirable traits of both the breeds and minimizing the chances of physical or health problems. Labradoodle, porkie, cockapoo, schoodle, daisy dog and poogle are designer dogs, to name a few.

Also known as hybrids, designer dogs are most probably not recognized by the kennel clubs though efforts are on to do so. Designer dogs are very expensive than their pure bred counterparts.

Designer dogs have taken by storm the dog breeding industry and there are people who are ready to shell out as high as two thousand five hundred US dollars for one designer dog.

But designer dogs are not entirely free of health concerns and it is a mistaken notion that there they are all healthy and immune to genetic conditions. But the trend still goes on and the craze of designer dogs continues to rise, thanks to celebrities.
