Large Pet – Abnormally Sized Cat Breeds

Pet cats are loveable animals that offer special companionship and love to the owners. Even though there is a misconception that the cats are aloof and cold, they actually are love showering animals. They show their love through their rubs, meows and soulful speaking eyes.

There are many cat breeds and types each different from one another. The variety is mind boggling. Not only do they differ in their looks but also differ in the temperament and personality, each with their own ancestry and history. Some of the large pet cat breeds are listed below:

Maine coon is one of the large pet cat breeds having a long hair and is of American native. They are known for the mouse hunting and hence offered recognition specific to the breed of the Maine state. It is big and sturdy cat which can adapt to severe winters and various other seasons of the region. They are known for their gentle disposition, high intelligence and lovable nature. They are adapt very well with the dogs and children, hence are known as a popular companion.

American bobtail is also a large pet cat breed which can grow to even a big size. They are found to be athletic and muscled displaying power. The head is shaped like a wedge with a distinct brow and almond shaped eye sharp enough for hunting. The coat can have either shorthair or long hair, is resilient and resistant to water. Even though they look very wild they are adaptable, intelligent and at good disposition.

Ocicat is also a large pet cat resembling the wild cats. They look very wild but not ferocious at all. They have the characteristics of dogs that they are very devoted to their owners. They respond well to the commands, adapt to the house rules, intelligent, trainable and walk on leash, sometimes even fetch things.
